This years Karibu/Kilifair took place in Arusha at the TGT Grounds, close to the Arusha Airport from 7th to 9th of June. The travel, tourism and industry fair has grown bigger and we therefore were seen by even more people than last year.

We again provided the majority of entertainment on stage including Traditional Dance, Drumming, Hip Hop and Beat Box, Dancing with the Audience - Kids and Adults as well as Acrobatics (in collaboration with four local acrobats). Besides, we performed at the VIP party at the prime resort in Sakina on Friday evening covering African and International hits.

Apart from showcasing the varied talents of our artist, we had a booth where people could come to learn everything about the Centre. We were located right next to the Food area with a view to the stage - the best spot we could ever asked for. Aside from talking to us about the centre people came to marvel at our on forex board printed photos, newly printed banners, our promo video and also tried some of our instruments.

It was a great success and we hope to have left a positive impression on all people at Karibu/Kilifair 2019.

ISM Arts Trip at CAC

We did it again. For the third time now we at CAC hosted the Arts Trip for students from International School Moshi (ISM) and International School Moshi Arusha Campus (ISMAC) from 22nd to 24th May 2019. All ISM and ISMAC grade 8 students attended a Performing and Visual Arts Trip for three days at CAC including several workshops such as Dancing, Drumming, Making Drums, Tie Dyeing and Acting.

The students arrived early the first day to set up their tents, in which they slept for the time being of the trip. After a quick tour of the facilities we started the programme - with a little delay off course ;) The students were split into three groups with different tracks of activities - Track A and B focused on cultural activities, where as three students formed the stage crew and learnt everything about setting up the stage for a show.

The students did not only learn about cultural dance, drumming and arts, but practiced for a final show that marked the end of the Arts Trip on the last day. Just like in former years, we were delighted to watch their final performance with gigs of Drumming, Modern and Traditional Dancing, a Drama, presenting the tie dyed T-shirts and the Drum they made, without any blunders. We are pleased to announce that all students pass their tasks with flying colors and everyone went home with two T-shirts (CAC and Tie Dye) and a certificate handed over by Randall our CAC manager.

Our CAC Fusion Band members went to Uganda to perform at 10PM on 1st May 2019 at the DOADOA ‘19 Festival. While DOADOA had invited artist from several East African countries, we were the only ones from Tanzania, so CAC Fusion did not only represent the Cultural Arts Centre, but Tanzania at the whole. Well Done guys !

Heart Society Concert in collaboration with CAC

Heart Society a Band from the United States spent two days with us at CAC and collaborated with our artist practicing for the Heart Society Concert at CAC presented by the U.S Embassy Dar Es Salaam.

Heart Society is a group of three - two women: singer/guitarist and drummer and a men playing the bass. They spread a message of love and equality through folk/soul and rock&roll music. On behalf of the US State Department they came to Africa (Tanzanian and Nigeria) to share music and empowerment and we at CAC were honored to be their first destination.

CAC artists and the trio spent two days sharing musical experiences and exchanging knowledge. Apart from practicing for the Concert that marked the end of the two days workshop, we off course showed them around CAC and taught them about Tanzanian culture including providing traditional food which they said they loved.

The result of the collaboration was a free concert at the CAC performance hall presented by the U.S Embassy Dar Es Salaam. CAC artists opened the concert and performed a few of their traditional dances as well as sang some CAC Fusion songs. Heart Society took over to perform their songs and later on invited CAC back on stage to present what they had been practicing on - a song called “Tupo Pamoja” (we are together).

We had lots of fun working with Heart Society Band and looking forward to further collaborations. A huge thanks goes to U.S Embassy Dar Es Salaam for making this possible, it’s been awesome!
